1-41 Application for Oct 17, 2021 :: Isaiah 46:9-10

===

…I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose’

Isaiah 46:9-10

So here are two other ways that God is beyond everything else (everyone other person, every other god):

1. He knows everything that will ever happen.
2. Everything he wants to happen will happen.

That is a God you can worship. That is a God who you want on your side.

He calls you to come.

1-40 Application for Oct 8-9, 2016 :: Titus 3:4-6

===

When the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior

Titus 3:4-6

“Not by works done by us in righteousness”.

This is very important. This is good news. This is the Good News.

Because if it were up to us, up to our righteousness, we would all fail.

But our salvation is according to the mercy of God.

And it’s a result of the Holy Spirit’s work in us. And God gave us the Holy Spirit richly, through his Son, Jesus Christ.

Salvation requires a Savior.

1-39 Application for Oct 3, 2021 :: Isaiah 64:4

===

From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.

Isaiah 64:4

God has no peer. He is transcendent. There are none like Him

And what is one important thing that the prophet Isaiah says puts him above the other gods?

He acts. For people.

If you wait for Him, if you look for Him, if you trust in Him, He will act … for YOU.

1-38 Application for Sept 26, 2021 :: 2 Cor 12:9

===

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Sufficient is an important word. Everything we need. God’s grace is everything we need.

Weakness is an important concept. Do you feel weak? You should. As you think about God’s power and glory, you should be aware of your flaws and lack of strength. They are your reality.

But the good news is God can use you. In fact, it’s how His power is shown perfectly.

And then you can boast in that.

1-37 Application for Sept 19, 2021 :: 2 Cor 9:8

===

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

2 Corinthians 9:8

===

This verse has a lot of completeness.
All grace.
All sufficiency in all things at all times.
Every good work.

It also has the word “Abound”.

“Abound” is a good word. Here’s the definition: to be rich or well supplied.

That is what we want. We want to be well supplied.

Your God, the One who created the universe, wants you to abound.

This is what you were made for.

1-36 Application for Sept 12, 2021 :: 2 Cor 9:6-7

===

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

===

Once more, God gives us a reason to obey him: That we might reap bountifully

He also tells us a bad way to obey: reluctantly or under compulsion.

And he tells us who he loves: a cheerful giver.

Decide in your heart — Be a cheerful giver.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12

A promise: A crown of life from the creator of the universe.
To whom: The man or woman who remains steadfast under trial and who stands the test.

Are you under trial right now? Do you know what God wants you to do? Or do you know what God wants you to refuse to do?

Ask God to help you stand the test – receive the crown of life.

Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Psalm 20:6-7

Who is the LORD’s anointed: His son Jesus – and through Jesus, Us.
What is done for the LORD’s anointed: He saves, with the saving might of his right hand.
What we can do because of this: Trust in his name and not finite and fallable creatures.

We trust in the name of the LORD our God!

===

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Those Jesus Calls: Those who labor and are heavy laden
What they should do: Take Jesus’ yoke and learn from him
What He will do: Give them rest for their souls
What they don’t have to do: Take all of the work of gaining salvation on themselves

Choose Jesus. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

1-32 Application for Aug 14, 2021 :: Romans 1:16

===

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:16

I tell my kids – there are two things you should be ashamed of – having done something sinful, or having done something foolish.

Paul makes it clear – choosing to live in accordance with the Gospel is neither of these.

And why should we have no shame regarding this? Because the Gospel shows us what God has done for us.

For salvation.
To everyone who believes.
Everyone!

Believe and be saved.
