1-10 Application for Mar 13, 2020 :: Phil 2:5-7

===

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Philippians 2:5-7

===

Do you take the form of a servant? Jesus did. And He is God.

It won’t require much emptying for you to be a good servant, but some of us act like it’s a great challenge. “I shouldn’t have to.”

That’s what Grace is about.

And here Paul commands us to have a spirit of grace.

Performed and written by Scott Jamison and his kids.

1-9 Application for Mar 6, 2021 :: 1 John 2:15-17

===

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life – is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17

===

What the world desires (and what you will desire if you love the world) is passing away.

But if you do the will of God, then you will have His love and you will abide forever.

The choice is simple and clear, but it is not easy to follow God, because you have to turn away from the desires of the flesh and the eyes and the prod of life. That is where our sinful hearts turn towards.

So pray that God will turn your face to Him.

Performed and written by Tom Dodds.

1-8 Application for Feb 28, 2020 :: Romans 8:1

===

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1

===

A strong word in this verse is “no”. There is no condemnation. Zero condemnation. If our condemnation was mostly gone, even 99.9% gone, it would benefit us.

But it’s all gone for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Performed by Phil and Christy Krause

1-7 Application for Feb 21, 2021 :: Psalm 62:5-7

===

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Psalm 62:5-7

===

Sometimes God calls us to be silent. And Wait.

And waiting can be hard.

But God is our rock, salvation, hope, refuge, glory and fortress.

You shall not be shaken.

1-3 Application for Feb 7, 2021 :: Romans 12:1-2

===

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:1-2

===

Do you want to know what God’s will for you is? It’s a good thing to want and Paul points us in the right direction.

Be transformed by the renewal of your mind
Ask – is this what a person with a renewed mind would do?
Don’t be conformed to this world
Ask – is this what the world wants me to do?
Test
Ask – will this move me towards the good, the acceptable and the perfect?

1-3 Application for Jan 31, 2021 :: Romans 11:33-36

===

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! 34″For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” 35″Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” 36For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Romans 11:33-36

===

All things? From him and to him and through him are all things?

That’s a lot. That’s tricky to comprehend. But Paul knows this. He wants to make it clear that we don’t have a mind like God’s.

It certainly take deep riches and wisdom to be able to work in the universe so completely and intricately to do the good works that He does.

Do you believe it? Can you say ‘Amen’ to it?

1-3 Application for Jan 24, 2021 :: John 1:12-13

===

…To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12-13

===

To those who
received Jesus and
believed in his name
He (Jesus)
gave the right to become children of God
They (the children of God)
were not born
of blood
of the will of the flesh
of the will of man
They (the children of God)
were born
of the will of God

This is good news. Have you received and believed Jesus?

1-2 Application for Jan 17, 2020 :: Deuteronomy 10:12-13

===

“…Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your good?

Deuteronomy 10:12-13

===

This is a question. It’s a question that helps you know the will of God for your life. You should want to know the will of God for your life:

Fear God
Walk in all his ways
Love God
Serve the LORD your God with all your heart and soul
Keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD

And that’s it! That’s all you have to do.

It will be impossible without the sanctifying work of his Son in your life. He will make this more and more possible.

That’s the first good news. The second good news is that all of the commandments are for our good.

For your good.

1-1 Application for Jan 10, 2021 :: Deuteronomy 7:9

===

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

Deuteronomy 7:9

===

We are starting set 1 with a good word.

Your God is God.
He is faithful – he keeps his covenant.
He is loving – to those who love him and keeps his commandments.
He is forever – to a thousand generations.

You don’t serve a false god, a flaky god, a forgetful god.

You serve the One True God.

5-52 Application for Jan 3, 2021 :: Revelation 21:5-7

===

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

Revelation 21:5-7

===

It is done! You don’t need payment. Your savior will conquer.
You can drink from the spring of the water of life. Choose Jesus and drink that satisfying liquid.

Choose the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega, the one seated on the throne.

It is done.
