4-3 Application for Jan 27, 2019 :: John 14:6

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6

===

I don’t know if this verse is sum-up-able. Jesus was a clear as he could be.

There are are no other options. There are no other routes.

Follow Him if you want to be with God.

4-2 Application for Jan 20, 2019 :: Isaiah 43:1-3

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”

Isaiah 43:1-3

===

More reasons to not start the year in fear:

God has redeemed you.
He has called you by name.
Fire and water can’t hurt you.

He is yours.

He is the Holy One and the Savior.

Pastor Piper and the Microphone

John Piper’s Birthday is January Eleventh, so I decided it would be a good time to finally post this video I made, compiling many unique (I’m pretty sure they’re all from different Sundays) instances of when he removed the unneeded microphone from the podium at the beginning of the sermon*.

Happy Birthday, Pastor John!

* Yes, the instance at time 2:10 was unique.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

===

Don’t start the year in fear.

Those who are in Christ have a God who will strengthen and uphold.

He will help you.

Start the year with Trust and Faith.

3-52 Application for Jan 6, 2019 :: Matthew 22:37-39

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:37-39

===

What would happen if you lived a little more in the direction of these two commandments in 2019?

What if all who claimed Jesus (He who spoke these words) as their King lived a little more in this direction?

Much would be done – for God’s Glory and man’s good.

3-51 Application for Dec 30, 2018 :: Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

===

Another verse filled with superlatives::
Far
More
Abundantly

than All
we ask Or Think
Through all generations
Forever and ever.

Paul really wanted to get it through to us – God is able to do a lot

He’s able to do a lot through us and for us. For his Glory

Amen

3-50 Application for Dec 23, 2018 :: 1 John 3:1-2

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

1 John 3:1-2

===

A blessing list:
We are children of God.
God loves us.
We shall be like him.
We know God better than the rest of the worlds.

Remember – because of the work of Christ, we have a bright future.

3-49 Application for Dec 16, 2018 :: 2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21

===

We are sinful, but we can become righteous.

Because …

Christ was righteous, but he was made to be sin.

Justice and Mercy meet at the cross.

3-48 Application for Dec 9, 2018 :: Matthew 20:26-28

“…whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:26-28

===

The command here is a hard one:
Serve others.
Be a slave to others.

But our inspiration to do live this hard way of life comes from the fact that we are following Jesus in this – he did it for us.

Even at the cost of his life.
