2-47 Application for Nov 25-26, 2017 :: Hebrews 11:6

===

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

We can’t stumble into doing something that pleases God. You don’t please God by accident.

For oneness with the Creator, you must have faith. You must believe.

You must believe in God and you must believe in Grace

2-46 Application for Nov 18-19, 2017 :: Romans 3:23-24

===

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus

Romans 3:23-24

Verse three here is one of the more well know Bible verses, but we can thank God for verse 24!

We are justified
Not by our our works, but as a gift – by grace.

We have been redeemed.
Our redemption is due to Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:23 is very, very bad news.
Romans 3:24 is very good news that cancels out the bad news of verse 23, for those in Christ Jesus.

Thank God for the good news.

2-45 Application for Nov 11-12, 2017 :: Galatians 2:20

===

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20

The connection we have with our savior, Jesus Christ, is strong.

We’ve been crucified with him.
Christ lives in us.
We live by faith in Jesus.

Rejoice! He loves you and gave himself for you.

Galatians 2:20

===

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Here is a promise:
The hard times in this life (and they are sometimes very very hard) are preparing us for heaven and it’s unimaginable glory of God.

So look to the unseen eternal things, not the visible, transient things.

God’s glory is eternal.

2-42 Application for Oct 21-22, 2017 :: Isaiah 53:6

===

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned-every one-to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

This verse talks about three things all humans have in common. Two are very bad, and one is very good.

1. All have gone astray
2. All have turned to his own way
3. All have had their iniquity laid on our saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praise God. Thank him for the Good Truth.

2-41 Application for Oct 14-15, 2017 :: Isaiah 53:4-5

===

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

What Jesus had to do for us is a hard reality.

He took our griefs and sorrows. He was stricken, smitten, afflicted, pierced, crushed, chastised and wounded.

But we are borne, carried, healed and given peace. The dark things have been and will all be taken away from us.

That is the Gospel. Praise God. Obey him. Let him save you.

Isaiah 53:4-5

===

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13

Here is an unbiblical way of thinking:
There is nothing I can do about my sin. There is no way for me to avoid it. I’m stuck here until I die.

No, God has given you a way of escape. He will always provide you a way of escape. He’ll give you a way of enduring the temptation.

It’s another way that God is Faithful.

There is hope in that truth.

1 Corinthians 10:13

===

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

Every need.

Do you have needs? Do you have many needs? God has them covered, through what his son, Jesus Christ, has done for all of us.

God is rich. His glory is rich.

Trust him. Tell him what you need.

2-38 Application for Sept 23-24, 2017 :: Proverbs 29:1, 11

===
He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing. A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.

Proverbs 29:1, 11

It is often the case that when you give full vent to your spirit, you get the pleasure of release, but you hurt others in the process. This proverb says it’s not worth it.

The world might say, let all your emotions get out, but you should consider the cost.

Be the wise man or woman. Be quiet. Pray. Trust God.

And remember the grace that was given to us when Jesus didn’t give full vent to his spirit.
