Matthew 5: 11-12

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Those who are reviled and persecuted and spoken poorly about because they proclaim Jesus. They will be blessed.

This is a difficult thing Jesus asks of us – rejoice and be glad when we’re reviled. But he gives us good reason – our reward is great in heaven. We know the end of the story. We’re on the winning side.
