Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

The poor in spirit, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness: They will be blessed.
This is counter to western culture. This is counter to our intuition.
“No,” we hear other voices say – “the Strong, the Happy, the More Practical – they will be blessed.”
We need to have our minds changed by the voice of our Saviour. Do we trust him?
