Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

I think these words are meant to warn us and then encourage us.
It is sobering to hear that Christians will suffer. It’s frightening to hear that some of us will be through into prison and that we’ll experience tribulation and the testing doesn’t sound like fun. Neither does “until death”.
But here we are commanded to not fear these times. And what will get us through the very dark days? The promise of a crown of life. A crown placed on our head by the God who created us.
God commands us to be faithful – all the way to this crowning. Pray that God will help us to be faithful during this journey.
