Early this year, in a sermon from 2 Corinthians, my pastor commented that it was encouraging how the Apostle Paul often uses the word “always” in describing good things that our true about our situation with God. I decided to consider and list the passages in the New Testament which (1) have the word “always” in them, and (2) describe something that is true about God or his children. And since this week’s Fighter verse is one of them, I’ve decided to post them now.
17 Truths That Are Always True.
We will always have the poor with us – Matthew 26:11
Jesus is always with Christians – Matthew 28:20
We ought to pray – Luke 18:1
Jesus does what pleases his Father – John 8:29
God hears Jesus – John 11:42
We should abound in the good work of the Lord – 1 Corinthians 15:58
Jesus Christ is “Yes” – 2 Corinthians 1:19
Christ leads us in triumphal procession – 2 Corinthians 2:14
We are always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies – 2 Corinthians 4:10
We should give thanks to God for everything – Ephesians 5:20
Jesus will be honored in our bodies, by life or by death – Philippians 1:20
We should rejoice – Philippians 4:4, 1 Thessalonians 5:16, others
We should let our speech be gracious – Colossians 4:6
We will always be with the Lord even when we die – 1 Thessalonians 4:17
We should seek to do good to other people in the church and to everyone – 1 Thessalonians 5:15
Jesus is able to completely save those who draw near to God through him, since he lives to make intercession for them – Hebrews 7:25
We should be prepared to give a defense to those who ask us about our hope. – 1 Peter 3:15
All of these truths were true in the first century, they have been true in 2014 and they will all be true in 2015.
