Five minutes ago one of my sons came upstairs and told me that he couldn’t sleep. He’d been ill and had the same thing running over and over again in his mind and he told me he needed something to think about.
I happened to be looking at this passage (preparing this post) and I realized that there couldn’t have been a more helpful thing to think about. My son, who I believe is saved, is called, according to God’s purpose. And because of this verse, we can believe (and trust and put our hope in) the truth that all things that happen to him, including poor sleep due to sickness, will work together for good.
There is hope in that. There is encouragement in that. We’re not suffering for nothing. God is working.
May we all feel that when we are in difficult times.
