Application of the Fighter Verse for December 4/5

Track 30 in Songs Set E – Matthew 7:22-23 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’  (Last week’s verse is also part of this song.  Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.)

Many will do things in the name of Jesus that look like fruit that a believer bears.  However, their hearts are not believing in Jesus, nor having been transformed and given new life.  Those who do not do the will of the Father will be cast away from God.

How do you know that your faith is genuine?

Practical suggestions this week:

– Meditate upon this verse and pray for God to reveal sin in your life and also where you are obeying God’s commandments.

– What do you believe about Jesus?  Do you believe the Bible?  Does your stated faith match up with how you live practically every day?

– Are you showing genuine affection and love for others?

These are the marks of genuine faith.  (1 John 2:1-11)

How will you use this bible verse in your life this week? with your spouse? your children? your family? your neighbors?
