Track 30 in Songs Set E –Matthew 7:26-27 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. (Last week’s verse is also part of this song. Matthew 7:24-25 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.)
If you count Jesus as your Savior, and you are believing His promise and obey His commands, rest easy! Those who obey His commandments show evidence of a changed heart, and gain assurance of salvation. Consequently, your fall will not be great.
If you do not hear the words of Jesus and do them, your fall will be great.
Have you built your house on the rock so that you will not have a great fall?
Practical suggestions this week:
– Consider if you have built your life upon the rock or the sand. If you have built your house on the rock, thank the Lord for His kindness to you. Jesus paid it all. The cost of your sin was borne by Him. If you have not built your house on the rock and believe in Jesus, pray to God. Pray that he would change your heart to hear His word, obey His word and find life and joy in Jesus.
– Meditate upon the word of God in the Bible and pray through it. Ask the Lord to grant you assurance of belief in Him and how you are obeying His commandments.
How will you use this bible verse in your life this week? with your spouse? your children? your family? your neighbors?
