Set 1 – Deuteronomy 10:12-13 – And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your good?
All of God’s commandments are for our good. Wow! All of them? Really? Aren’t some of them a burden with no good in them? No! Not according to the Bible. Keeping His commandments is loving and serving Him. If you love God, you will keep His commandments. (1 John 5:3)
Do you feel that God’s commandments are for your good?
Practical suggestions this week:
– As you read through God’s commandments, give thanks to Him for them. Thank Him for fulfilling His promises in Christ Jesus.
– Consider the disciples of Jesus. Examine how they obeyed the Lord’s commandments. Consider the joy that drove them to do so.
– Pray that God will help you to love Him and serve Him. Because you love Him, pray for help to obey His commandments with joy just as Jesus Christ suffered the cross for the joy that was set before Him.
