Application of the Fighter Verse for March 5/6

1 John 2:15-17 – Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

To abide forever in the Lord, before the Lord with increasing joy, is the ultimate prize.  John writes earnestly to warn us that all that is in the world is passing away.  It is a distraction from the love of God.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength.  Do not love the world or the things in the world.

Practical suggestions:

– Meditate upon this verse.  Each of us has desires for things in the world that captivate our attention and distract us from the Lord.  What does your heart desire?

– Pray that your heart desires God above all things.  Turn away from fleeting desires and turn to the Lord.

– Consider sharing with another how the Lord is your satisfaction and joy.

How will you use this scripture song in your life this week? with your spouse? your children? your family? your neighbors?
