Ephesians 6:16-18(Listen to song Demo above)
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, [praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.]
One thing that I have learned in focusing on these verses in Ephesians 6 over the past few weeks is that our wrestling against temptation really is a battle. We are expected to battle, to fight. Here again, Paul encourages us to use the faith that God has given us and to protect ourselves with God’s salvation. In studying this I read that the sword of the spirit is the only offensive weapon in the list. I love that. God has given us many weapons to protect ourselves, but to go on the offensive against Satan and his powers, there is only one: the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. That is why we hide God’s word in our heart, that we might be able to stand firm and battle the evil one.
Practical suggestions:
– Have you taken the battle that you are in seriously?
– Are you, in Christ’s strength and through his grace, fighting this battle?
– Are you employing the sword of the spirit to advance against Satan in this battle?
How will you use this scripture memory song in your life this week? with your spouse? your children? your family? your neighbors?
