The section of this text in quotation marks is from Proverbs. It’s also echoed by Jesus in Luke and Matthew. So here we have a way of living that is proclaimed by Solomon, Jesus and the Apostle Paul.
And yet so many Christians don’t act in this way. We find it too easy to do evil to those who do evil to us. This is the natural man way of acting.
But the holy, Godly, Christlike approach is to do good to those who do evil to us. It is the way Paul says we can overcome evil with good.
