Application of the Fighter Verse for July 2/3

Ephesians 6:10-11  (Listen to song Demo above)

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

My boys play a game they call “battle”.  It involves Nerf swords, axes and a lot of drama. They love it.  No one ever gets hurt, no limbs are lost, and most of the time the “battle” ends in smiles.

At the end of Paul’s letter to the Ephesian church he gives them some pastoral advice. He speaks to our battle against Satan the evil one.  This is a battle that cannot be won on our own.  We need outside help.  We need the armor that God has provided for us.  The devil is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.  This battle is not waged with Nerf swords.  It is waged against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  If we do not employ the means of grace that Paul will talk about in the following verses, we will succumb to the power of the devil and will not bear the fruit of good works that God wishes for us.

Put on the whole armor of God!

Practical suggestions:

– What battle are you fighting today?

– Are you trying to fight it on your own, or are you putting on the armor of God and employing his means of grace?

How will you use this fighter verse song in your life this week? with your spouse? your children? your family? your neighbors?
