Application of the Fighter Verse for December 3/4

Psalm 141:3,4

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips!
Do not let my heart incline to any evil.

The implication here is that the inclination of our hearts to evil (yes, it’s an inclination implication) often is shown in the darks words we say. Isn’t this true?

We find ourselves thinking – why did I say that? Where did that come from? Am I not better than that?

Unfortunately, no we’re not.

But there’s hope and David the psalmist gives us the answer – we can pray. God will keep watch over what we say. God will help us control our tongues.

Do you pray this? Do you ask for help in this way?
